The gravel bike is the current cycling trend: it performs equally well on paved roads and unpaved trails or gravel paths. Its more comfortable geometry and versatile tires make it the perfect tool for exploring Provence’s secondary roads, the Marseille hinterland, or venturing onto the less technical trails of the Calanques.

What’s the difference from a road bike? Gravel bikes feature wider, knobbier tires, a more upright geometry, and can accommodate bikepacking bags—available as an option at EVTT Provence.

It specifies in particular the rented equipment, rental period, price and any options selected.
The booking implies acceptance of these Rental Terms and Conditions.

1. USE OF THE BIKE

The Renter agrees to:

  • use the bike for its intended purpose and in accordance with the instructions provided;
  • comply with the Highway Code and all applicable regulations;
  • not lend, transfer or sub-rent the bike;
  • not modify or dismantle the bike;
  • use the lock provided whenever the bike is left unattended;
  • keep the keys and accessories provided;
  • not use the bike under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The Renter must wear a helmet whenever riding the bike if one is provided by EVTT PROVENCE.

2. SECURITY DEPOSIT

A security deposit is required before the bike is handed over, exclusively by physical bank card:

€500 without additional insurance
€300 when Tulip insurance is purchased

The security deposit is a guarantee and does not constitute insurance.

3. INSURANCE

Optional additional Tulip insurance is available.

If the Renter does not purchase this insurance, they are responsible for checking with their own insurer that their personal insurance provides appropriate coverage for damage to and/or theft of the rented bike.

Standard personal liability insurance does not necessarily cover damage to or theft of a rented bike.

If damage or theft is not covered by any applicable insurance, the Renter may be required to pay the resulting costs when they are legally responsible for the loss or damage.

4. BREAKDOWN AND PUNCTURE

A puncture is the only repair that the Renter is permitted to carry out themselves, using the repair kit provided.

For any other breakdown, damage or mechanical issue, the Renter must contact EVTT PROVENCE before carrying out or arranging any repair.

Any major repair must be carried out by a professional with the prior approval of EVTT PROVENCE.

An authorised repair required due to a defect or failure not attributable to the Renter may be reimbursed by EVTT PROVENCE upon presentation of the relevant receipt.

5. THEFT OR DAMAGE

The Renter must take all necessary precautions to protect the bike. When left unattended, the bike must be secured to a fixed point using the lock provided.

In the event of theft, loss, fall or damage, EVTT PROVENCE must be notified immediately. In the event of theft, the Renter must also report it to the relevant authorities and provide EVTT PROVENCE with proof of the report.

If Tulip insurance has not been purchased, the Renter must check with their insurer that their policy covers theft of and damage to the rented bike. If there is no applicable insurance coverage, the resulting costs may remain the Renter’s responsibility when they are legally responsible for the loss or damage.

6. RETURN OF THE BIKE

The bike and all accessories must be returned on the date, at the time and at the location specified in the rental agreement.

Late returns may result in additional charges.

Return the following day by 9:00 a.m.: €5, provided that the bike is in working order, clean, with the battery charged and all accessories returned.

For later returns, an additional half-day rental may be charged.

7. CANCELLATION

Cancellation at least 48 hours before the start of the rental: full refund.

Cancellation less than 48 hours before the start of the rental: no refund.

The Renter is responsible for the use of the bike and for complying with all applicable regulations, particularly those governing natural areas and the Calanques National Park.

The Renter is responsible for any damage caused to third parties as a result of their use of the bike, in accordance with applicable law.

EVTT PROVENCE cannot be held responsible for consequences resulting from improper use of the equipment or failure to comply with safety instructions and applicable regulations, without prejudice to any liability imposed on EVTT PROVENCE by law.
